All pumps needs power - either wind, petrol, diesel or electricity. Solar pumps use the sun for production of DC electricity; the number of solar modules needed ranges from a single 80W module to as many modules as are necessary to pump the required volume of water.

A 24-module system, for example, will pump a 160 metre head and 22,500 litres per day.
